The April web-Explorer is available and awaiting readers.

You know, the webteam does not create the content for the EXPLORER. That is done by the EXPLORER editorial staff. By the time we get to read the articles we’ve heard about their topics but not their content/ This makes the preparation a particularly enjoyable task.

April Delivers!

This issue is crammed full of very interesting stories. Its focus is the fast-approaching annual meeting to be held in Houston this year. Reading it now will give you an idea of what to expect.

The highlights includes papers, forums, special speakers and activities planned. It includes all those who will be honored or given awards  (my favorite part).

The Sydney Powers medal is the highest honor that AAPG bestows on any member. This year’s medalist is one that is known not only by the members of the AAPG but also by the AAPG staff. John Shelton has made an impact on many lives including the life of the AAPG Executive Director, Rick Fritz.

I was eager to read John’s story not simply because of my personal knowledge but because of the person who wrote the story. Mary Fritz is the wife of Rick Fritz and she once was a correspondent for the EXPLORER. She dusted off her computer to write this story about John because he has contributed so much to her family, her husband and his career.

This personal connection made this a must-read for me. But then, this whole issue is like that!

For those of you who haven’t registered to attend the annual meeting, the April issue may convince you to register now.

For those of you who cannot possibly make it, I’d like to suggest you read this issue now. Then you may tell your colleague who is going that you’d like more information about any of the highlighted papers and forums.

Good browsing!
