Low-temperature geothermal resources represent a significant opportunity for companies involved in oil and gas exploration and production, and you’ll learn how in our new, free e-symposium offered by AAPG Education. Low-temperature geothermal resources can be co-produced with oil and gas, with numerous commercial applications. It’s a great lead-in to our 4-week e-certificate course, Geothermal Basics.

Giant Oil Fields
There are more approximately 1,000 oil and gas fields in the world that have been classified as “giant,” containing more than 500 million barrels of recoverable oil and /or 3 trillion cubic feet of gas. This course will cover the structure, stratigraphy, and production history of the fields and an analysis of effective exploration, production, and enhanced oil recovery methods.

Geological Models in CO2 Sequestration
This course provides a foundation in reservoir characterization as it applies to carbon storage. Units include evaluating reservoirs ideal for storage, fluid dynamics within the reservoir after injection and during monitoring, enhanced oil recovery using CO2, and case studies.
Website will be available on September 30, 2010.
