Lights! Cameras! Calgary!
Visitors to the AAPG International Conference & Exhibition website will see something new: video. This is the first time AAPG has posted video before an event to showcase upcoming attractions including field trips, guest tours and the post-ICE core conference. There’s also a Google search story that visually summarizes what AAPG ICE is all about.
The videos are hosted on YouTube, where you’ll also find videos from past conference speakers on the AAPGweb channel. I did a little more searching and found some videos from student chapters, geology departments at universities and some field trips.
YouTube originally may have been used to share funny videos but it has become a place where people show their know-how and enthusiasm for their professions and subjects that matter to them. With the capability to capture video on smart phones, flip cameras, etc., I hope to see Calgary attendees post some of their own highlights from AAPG ICE on YouTube and share it with us.
